I manage the property. Can the tenant let the operator in and you bill me?
Yes. Put the access arrangement and who to invoice in the form or say it on the call. Tenant present, keyholder meets, lockbox code all work. A trip to a locked unit with nobody expecting it does not.
We opened a vacant and there is a dead animal in the basement. Is that a normal job?
Common in Flint. Basements with a broken window and unsecured garages are how they get in. The operator removes it, takes the soiled material around it, and tells you where the entry point looked to be. Sealing that entry is separate work.
Will you cut into a wall to get a mouse out?
No. A mouse or rat in a sealed wall stays where it is. If it cannot be reached without cutting the structure, the smell is left to fade as the carcass dries out. Operators do not open drywall or plaster for a rodent.
Does Genesee County Animal Care pick up dead wildlife?
Its published scope is stray, dangerous and injured dogs and cats, licensing and cruelty. Nothing on its site covers wildlife carcasses on private property. Treat a carcass on your lot as yours.
Who removes a deer on I-69 or I-75?
MDOT. Its FAQ says it removes carcasses that pose a hazard on I, M and US routes, reported through the nearest MDOT office. County roads are the county road commission’s. A deer on your own property is yours to arrange.
What do I need to have ready?
Address and ZIP, where on the property, roughly what and how big, how long it has been there, access details, and who to bill. Species is optional.
Is the smell dealt with as part of it?
Removing the carcass and the soiled material right around it, and treating that spot, is usually part of the visit. Whole-room treatment, replacing all the insulation, or rebuilding is separate, and whether the operator offers it is a call question.
How fast?
Arrival times are not promised here. The operator commits to one when their schedule allows. If it is urgent, say so on the phone, not the form.
