Inside the building
Garage, basement, attic, crawl space, under the porch. If a person can get to it, it is a Flint removal job. If it is sealed in a wall, read the second box before you call.
Reachable spaces
Flint's housing stock is old and a lot of it sits empty between tenants. Raccoons and opossums use unsecured garages, broken basement windows and open soffits, and some of them die in there. The operator gets in, locates it, bags it, pulls the fouled material around it, and points out the entry.
- Garage floor, behind stored stuff, in a rafter space
- Basement, especially a vacant with a broken window
- Attic with a hatch or pull-down stairs
- Crawl space with an access door
- Under a porch, deck or mobile-home skirting
- Shed, detached garage, pole barn
Walls: the rule
A mouse or rat in a sealed wall stays where it is. If it cannot be reached without cutting the structure, the smell is left to fade as the carcass dries out.
Operators do not cut finished drywall or plaster for a rodent. If a cavity opens into an attic or basement it can sometimes be reached from there; say what you know and the operator will tell you which it is.
Rental access
Tenant home, keyholder meets, lockbox code. Put it in the form. A trip to a locked unit is a trip nobody wanted.
